January 14th heralds our First Full Moon of 2025 and with it a bright, spotlight on our feelings.
Feelings are tricky aren't they?! They can make us uncomfortable to say the least, they can make us avoid and bottle true feels up rather than cause a scene, we can pretend they're not there with all the distractions this world offers in the form of alcohol, numbing out, overworking. They can leave us at our most vulnerable and sometimes this is our greatest fear of being 'truly seen'.
Cancer is a water sign representing Water - our feelings and emotions. When the moon is full it brings light to a situation, guiding us to examine and feel our inner world, introspection, awareness and ultimately release. Cancer represents our needs and self care, family, our inner child, our ancestry, our memories and the home. In our bodies it represents the womb, stomach and breasts - it is deeply feminine and whether you identify as a male or female, we all carry both these energies within us.
This Moon is a little feistier than usual as Mars is hanging out next to Grandmother Moon. Mars is our action planet of drive, risk, assertive action in its higher energies. It is not comfortable in the sign of Cancer so it often stays quiet, repressed, quick to anger and erupts in an emotional vomit. It wants to feel and be vulnerable but it just doesn't quite know how. I have the image of toddler having a raging tantrum as they don/t have the capacity yet to say how they feel!
Mars is currently in retrograde so think back to late October 2024 about what was coming up for you - this is your second chance (you will also get a third in early April) around the cancer themes I mentioned above. Sometimes when we journal we see things more clearly...
What is reoccurring in your life that feels out of your comfort zone?
What is your body feeling around this and can you use the Mars energies of courage to enquire a little deeper?
What core memories are being stored in the body that may cause us to react if our needs aren't met?
What do you need right in this point of time to feel seen and heard?
When do you most feel not acknowledged, seen or listened to?
Do you prioritize self care and some time out for yourself?
As always there are other planetary energies that are colluding with this Moon and always tie into the central theme of the sign the Moon is in.
Pisces energies are very active all of this year as the Moons nodes have changed signs from the Libra/Aries axis to Pisces/Virgo. This brings in new energies for the next 18 months especially around the eclipses.
Pisces currently has 3 planets in it plus the Moons North Node (what we are striving to evolve into) This is mutable energy so its all about flow, connectivity within groups, creativity, spirituality, compassion and forgiveness. The lower form of Pisces is avoidance, delusions, head in the sand, addictions, overwhelm. So you can see how all of these Pisces themes can tie in with our emotional cancer moon!
A few other tidbits to consider in this energy...
Venus in Pisces conjunct Saturn - money/work opportunities, take note of opportunities around meeting people, establish firm boundaries around where your energy is being drained from others.
Uranus retrograde in Taurus - Uranus brings freedom, shocks, breaking away from the normal energies, also unforeseen events (good or challenging) that may have rocked your world, changing your relationships and stability. This period of time now is a review of events around May 2024 pertaining to relationships, money, security. Using the Cancer illuminating Moon of your needs and emotions, The Pisces energies of what are you avoiding, the Uranus energies of freedom and breaking away from anything holding you back - take stock, take time for yourselves, review the last few months and what has been coming up for you.
Use the Mars energies of courage to 'go there' Use the Moons energies to forgive and release (especially yourself, we are so hard on ourselves)
I'll be back soon to write a blog on the Nodal shifts of Pisces and Virgo Energies and how the last few years has led us to this point.
Thank you from the bottom of my big Leo Heart for reading
